Ter Stegen initially felt pain on Thursday, and after it didn't subside on Friday, made the decision – in conjunction with national team doctors – to return to Barcelona. With Manuel Neuer not yet fit enough to return to the fold, manager Julian Nagelsmann now faces a dilemma as to who to bring into the team this week.

Nagelsmann described Ter Stegen's injury in a press conference on Friday: "Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will miss both games because he has acute pain in his back. Tomorrow – on Saturday – he will fly back to Barcelona. I hope he recovers soon and returns to the field with his team."
WHAT NEXT FOR TER STEGEN
The shot-stopper is set to return to his club setup, where he will undergo tests to determine the severity of his injury. Barcelona's next fixture is a La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano on November 25, but it remains to be seen whether the German will be fit enough to feature.
