Havertz opened the scoring during a tense last-16 encounter in Dortmund. With the game having been suspended in the first-half due to a thunderstorm, and stopped in the second due to a masked man climbing the rafters, Germany needed a spark. Having seen Joachim Andersen's goal controversially ruled out, they went up the other end and won a penalty, again in debatable circumstances, which Havertz coolly rolled home.

Havertz wrote on Instagram: "Danke Dortmund! Tough game with a big result and a huge privilege to make my 50th appearance."
