Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma is potentially “not far from returning” from injury.
What’s the word?
The Frenchman has already missed a number of Premier League recently due to a knee problem but he managed to get himself fit to play in the home win over Everton.
After that, however, he then had to sit out the draw against Newcastle United with a hamstring injury. It remains unclear as to when the defender may return with manager David Moyes keeping his cards close to his chest.
Indeed, the manager told football.london: “He’s back. We think there’s a little bit of a tear at the top of his thing. We’ve not really put any date on it because we generally are trying to get a correct diagnosis, how long we think he is going to be.
“He is a very quick healer, Kurt, if I’m being honest so hopefully, it’s not going to be too bad.”
Following this update in the media, Ex has revealed his own information on the situation, suggesting that he could be back in just a week potentially.
Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “Zouma, I think is not far from returning. Moyes is being a bit coy with injuries at the moment. So I’m not entirely sure of [Gianluca] Scamacca, and Zouma and [Maxwel] Cornet’s return.
“But I think it’s not as bad as people first thought. And he could be back within the week or a couple of weeks. So hopefully that’s the case.” Returning soon?
It will have come as a major blow for the club to have lost Zouma to another injury setback after only recently missing two months of football due to knee surgery.
And having just sold former club centre-back Craig Dawson to Wolves in the January transfer window, some may have been left wondering if their side had made a big mistake in the winter market.
Luckily, though, it sounds as though the Frenchman should be back and ready to play again before too long – providing he suffers no further setbacks.
Still, Zouma has struggled with fitness issues throughout his career and this is not the first time he’s been sidelined by a hamstring injury since joining West Ham, so the club will have to be careful not to rush him back too soon.
