The England star came off the bench in the Women's Super League for the first time in three years but couldn't stop United from dropping points
Manchester United were held to a surprise draw by Leicester on Sunday, unable to come from a goal down at home to beat a side that were involved in the Women's Super League's relegation battle last year. Aileen Whelan broke the deadlock for the Foxes just before the hour mark and despite United managing to equalise within just a few minutes thanks to Maya Le Tissier's header, the hosts were unable to go on and get the goal they needed for all three points.
Marc Skinner's side started the game well and created plenty of chances but Lucia Garcia and Nikita Parris were both unable to convert those that came their way, while Japan international Hinata Miyazawa also smashed an effort against the crossbar before half time.
United's wastefulness was punished on the hour when Leicester took the lead through Whelan, who was completely unmarked as she capitalised on a poor headed clearance from Millie Turner and drilled a shot across the face of goal and into the back of Mary Earps' net.
Le Tissier met Katie Zelem's corner brilliantly to head home and level the scores shortly afterwards but United's biggest chance for a second goal saw Parris head into Janina Leitzig's arms in the 99th minute instead of past the Leicester goalkeeper.
GOAL rates Man Utd's players from Leigh Sports Village…
GettyGoalkeeper & Defence
Mary Earps (7/10):
Had very little to do but made a big save in the second half to deny Lena Petermann.
Hannah Blundell (6/10):
Did her job well, bursting forward when possible but also honouring her defensive duties, especially considering she changed position twice.
Maya Le Tissier (7/10):
Accurate long passes added another dimension to Man Utd's build-up. Header for her goal was brilliantly taken.
Millie Turner (5/10):
Swept up well at the back and was good on the ball but her really poor headed clearance led to Leicester's goal.
Gabby George (N/A):
Hobbled off in the opening minutes with an injury that looked worrying.

Katie Zelem (6/10):
A couple of disappointing moments were evened out by some excellent passes forward and a wonderful assist for United's equaliser.
Hayley Ladd (6/10):
Defended well and created a couple of chances with her passes into the final third before coming off as attacking changes were made before the hour.
Hinata Miyazawa (6/10):
Came so close to a brilliant goal on her full debut, only to be denied by the woodwork. Lively, positive and willing to shoot in the first half but quieter in the second.

Lucia Garcia (5/10):
Got into good goal-scoring positions but lacked the clinical touch to find the back of the net. Subbed off before the hour.
Nikita Parris (6/10):
Lively from the off, putting Garcia through on goal inside the first few minutes, but another who couldn't take the chances that came her way. Caused problems with her play and won plenty of fouls.
Melvine Malard (5/10):
Linked up with Parris well but the wide role she was deployed in meant she couldn't get on the end of many chances. Subbed off before the hour.
GettySubs & Manager
Jayde Riviere (7/10):
Came on with less than 10 minutes on the clock to replace George and immediately looked more at home in an orthodox right-back role after struggling as a winger against PSG in midweek. Made a huge tackle in the second half to deny Deanne Rose in the box. Had to be subbed off late on in the second half, though, due to an injury of her own.
Ella Toone (5/10):
The first of a triple sub just before the hour mark. Couldn't get into the game.
Rachel Williams (5/10):
Had more than half an hour to make an impact but was unable to do so.
Leah Galton (5/10):
The third player to come on in that triple sub and she also struggled to get involved.
Gemma Evans (N/A):
Replaced Riviere with 15 minutes to play.
Marc Skinner (5/10):
Rotation was wise, especially the decision to rest Toone, ahead of a trip to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek. To put Malard, who has looked sharp in front of goal with two goals in two games, out wide while Parris led the line was a slight surprise. Subs didn't change the game.
