Greenwood spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Getafe but will now have to look elsewhere for a move this summer, after Xavi's exit left his Barcelona plans in tatters. Greenwood is now likely to pursue a move to Italy this summer, with Serie A side Juventus currently favourites to secure his signature.

Greenwood is expected to part ways with United this summer, whether it is on another temporary loan deal or a permanent transfer. Several clubs including Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Saudi Pro League sides have been credited with an interest in the former England international.

Following his campaign in Spain with Getafe, Greenwood issued the following statement on his Instagram account: "Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season, thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own.
