According to the Yorkshire Post, Leeds United are considering making a loan move for West Ham United’s Reece Oxford.
What’s the story?
Leeds could look to bring in Oxford on a temporary basis this summer, to provide extra cover for their defensive unit.
The 19-year-old Englishman spent last season on loan with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach. The teenager struggled for regular game time in Germany though, managing only eight appearances in all competitions.

This time around, a return to the second tier in England could be on the cards for the teenager who spent a stint with Reading during the 2016/17 Championship campaign.
Regular football at this age is a must if Oxford wants to realise his ambitions of establishing himself as a West Ham regular in the near future. A successful season spent at Elland Road, under the tutelage of Marcelo Bielsa, could see him take one big step closer to that ultimate goal.
Oxford getting an education in Leeds
The potential benefits of this move for Oxford are obvious. The young defender could learn an awful lot under the Whites’ new manager, who has already transformed and vastly improved the Leeds team’s style of play in his short time in charge.
If this Leeds squad are to maintain the high standards they have already set at this stage throughout the entirety of the gruelling Championship season, then they must be able to rely upon their strength in depth.
An additional centre-back looks needed at Elland Road to provide the first choice options with adequate cover, and a new arrival in the mould of Oxford – youthful, energetic, athletic – would fit the bill nicely.
If this deal can get over the line then it should suit all involved.
