West Brom boss Darren Moore should make a move for Kilmarnock full-back Stephen O’Donnell, who impressed on his competitive debut for Scotland in their UEFA Nations League win over Albania.
Current situation
The Baggies currently sit ninth in the Championship after a recent upturn in form during their first season back in the second tier of English football, having won three, drawn one and lost two so far.
The West Midlands club have won five of their last six matches in all competitions and the recent success has coincided with Moore introducing a new 3-4-1-2 formation with attacking wing-backs providing the width.
Winger Matt Phillipps has been in excellent form in this new role on the right so far this season, but the only back-up that Moore has is 35-year-old Tyrone Mears, who was signed on a short-term contract this summer and doesn’t have the legs to offer the box-to-box running needed.
In the spotlight
This then may be a position that Moore looks to strengthen in January as the Baggies push for promotion back t0 the Premier League. O’Donnell was thrown in at the deep end by Scotland boss Alex McLeish against Albania but the 26-year-old excelled and looks as though he could be perfect for West Brom.
O’Donnell spent time at Partick Thistle and Luton Town before moving to Kilmarnock in the summer of 2017, where he has made 52 appearances.
With the spotlight on him after a fantastic performance on international duty at wing-back, O’Donnell must now push for a move and Moore should look to bring him to the Hawthorns.
