The 28-year-old defender has been out of action since February, with Gareth Southgate conceding that it was always a risk to include him in his 26-man squad for European Championship duty. Shaw has sat out the Three Lions’ opening two games at that tournament, with natural right-back Kieran Trippier providing cover on the left.

There were fears that Shaw – who has continued to sit out group training sessions – would be forced to miss the entire Euros, with there talk of him returning to Manchester for further treatment ahead of pre-season at club level.
DID YOU KNOW?
England have, however, revealed that Shaw was back out on the grass ahead of their crucial clash with Slovenia on Tuesday – alongside Trippier, who has also been nursing an untimely knock. All 26 players selected by Southgate were put through their paces, with the Three Lions’ head coach now facing welcome selection posers.
WHAT NEXT?
England head into their final Group C fixture with four points on the board and a place in the last-16 all but wrapped up. They are, however, still searching for a spark and Southgate is expected to shuffle his pack as the likes of Shaw, Conor Gallagher, Adam Wharton, Anthony Gordon and Ollie Watkins push for starting berths.
